Walking sticks

A correctly adjusted, lightweight walking stick with a comfortable and anatomically formed grip handle greatly relieves loading to the hips and provides great assistance for patients with hip joint arthritis and allows walking with much less pain. With the lightweight but sturdy walking stick the balance of patients with coordination and perception impairment is significantly supported. Especially for patients with rheumatism, there is a wide variety of available grip handles that allow exact user adjustment. An especially soft and slip-free tip greatly alleviates painful shocks to the shoulder or wrists.

For diseased hips the walking stick should be used on the opposite hip side. This allows the pelvis to be supported, hips to be relieved and the healthy side to be protected from heavy loads. The crutches are made of metal tubing, equipped with a flexible slip-free rubber tip and a functional grip handle. The grip handle is shaped to provide the hand with a horizontal support surface and to match the hand. Unlike the walking sticks with anatomic grip handles, these may be used on either side, left or right.

The anatomic grip handles, as opposed to the standard grip handles, are designed to allow the entire hand surface to be used as support. The grip handles are moulded to match the inside surface of a normal hand, where loading is uniformly distributed throughout the entire surface of the hand. Uniformly distributed loading relieves the wrist and therefore allows greater loads for longer periods of time. Height adjustment allows the walking stick to be adjusted to suit individual patient body sizes.

Indication
Impaired walking ability that requires part of the patient’s skeleton to be relieved of loading.
Depending on individual requirements, a walking stick may be prescribed that can be used on both sides.
