Shower chairs have a corrosion resistant frame with a push bar or grip handles. The side fixtures/armrests are removable and/or foldable, thus allowing a sideways transfer. The backrest and seat design allow shower water to flow away unobstructed. Additional outfitting with a commode fixture is also possible.
Stationary shower chairs have four legs.
Push-type shower roll-chairs have four small swivel castors (two with locks) that allow easy turning into position. The footrests are removable or may be folded away.
Patient-propelled shower chairs have two large wheels with handrims in the back and two swivel castors up front. The footrests are removable or may be folded away.
IndicationThe use of a shower chair is suitable when a handicapped person is unable to use the available shower or bath facilities. The shower facility must however be designed to allow the shower chair to roll in and out unobstructed.
