These crutches have a slightly curved and padded support for the armpit, a hand grip and a tube insert connection to the floor surface that is fitted with a shock-absorbing tip. Most of the loading is supported by the armpits (beneath the shoulder joints) with some loading placed on the hand grips. These crutches must be used on both arms and provide maximum walking stability while fully relieving the loads to one or both limbs while walking.

Considerable walking impairment where partial or total relief of one leg or part of the body is needed after an accident, operation or illness whenever other walking aids may not be used because of incapacitation caused by illness.
